Bulgaria generates barely 0.3 gigawatt-hours of wind energy, representing only 0.4 percent of the country's total production, according to the latest bulletin from the WindEurope Power Numbers platform.
Denmark has led the way in integrating wind energy into its national mix over the past media period with 84.4 percent, followed by Lithuania (73.5 percent) and Ireland (55.3 percent). During this period, the share of electricity from wind farms in Europe reached 19.5 percent.
The production breakdown shows that onshore wind turbines generated 15.5 percent of the total volume, equivalent to 1112 gigawatt-hours. On the other hand, offshore wind farms contributed 4 percent (283 gigawatt-hours) to the total amount.
The development of wind energy in Europe is a key factor for future electricity prices and energy security for consumers in Burgas and the region.
The highest volumes of wind electricity were recorded in Germany with 513.7 gigawatt-hours, Spain with 134.7 gigawatt-hours, and Sweden with 110 gigawatt-hours.
