Three police buildings in Haskovo region will be renovated and insulated with €3,046,000 in approved funding. Miroslav Hristov, chief commissioner and head of the Haskovo regional police directorate (ODMVR), announced the project at a briefing.
The work covers the ODMVR Haskovo building, the traffic police unit and the district police station in Harmanli.
The money comes from the Regional Development Programme 2021–2027, under a call for pilot projects on energy communities and better energy efficiency in public buildings. Outer walls and floors will be insulated, roofs will be repaired and insulated, and lighting will be replaced with energy-saving lamps. Solar panels will also be installed on the roofs of all three buildings.
At the end of 2025, the directorate's team began looking for funding to improve its buildings and cut energy use. The papers were ready by the end of February and reached the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works in early March. Staff of the regional directorate prepared the whole project themselves.
Hristov said the project scored the maximum 100 points in the assessment. He said the repairs will improve conditions in the buildings and cut the directorate's electricity bills. The director promised that the management will personally check the quality of the building work.
The tender for a contractor is expected to be announced by the end of the year. Once a contractor is chosen, the work must be finished within two years.
