A helicopter has transported a woman with a broken ankle from the „Sinanitsa“ hut after she required emergency assistance yesterday. Despite the incident, the Mountain Rescue Service of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) reports that today's conditions for mountain hiking are favorable.
Mountain rescuers are monitoring the situation and advise visitors to be cautious, as weather conditions are expected to deteriorate tomorrow. Currently, it is sunny everywhere, with a light breeze blowing in the ridge areas, and temperatures ranging between 6 and 12 degrees.
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology forecasts that today will be mostly sunny over the mountains. However, in the afternoon, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will appear, and in certain areas—primarily in the massifs of Southwestern Bulgaria—showers and thunderstorms are possible. The wind will be light to moderate from the east-northeast, while it will blow from the north on the highest peaks and ridges.
Regarding temperatures, the maximum value at an altitude of 1200 meters will reach around 23°C, while around 15°C is expected at 2000 meters.
