Energy facilities are ready for winter, energy minister Iva Petrova told the parliamentary energy committee when an MP asked her about it. She pointed to checks she had ordered.

The checks took place in September. Most are finished, and some will run into October. Petrova said the legal requirements are being met. Crisis teams have been set up to act in emergencies and breakdowns.

Bulgargaz has secured natural gas supplies for winter. Gas is now being pumped into the Chiren underground storage facility, and Petrova said this guarantees there will be enough through the winter months.

The biggest problems are at Toplofikatsia Sofia, which owes money to Bulgargaz and to the Bulgarian Energy Holding. Repairs to the heating network in the capital are not finished, and some work is still going on. The company has assured the minister the network will be ready when the heating season starts. But Petrova said she has concerns about the network's condition and the quality of the service.
