The government has approved €60.7m for the 19 April parliamentary election, the Council of Ministers press office said. The money has already been spent.
The cost is €5m below the sum set in Decree No. 38 of 2026. Spending reports have gone to the finance ministry.
A decree on 23 February 2026 set the election budget at €65m. Klisurski said then that the final bill would reach about €75–80m.
Bulgaria has not yet adopted its 2026 budget. The election was therefore paid for under the temporary rules of the law on collecting revenue and making spending in 2026. These rules apply until parliament passes the state budget law, the state social insurance budget law and the budget law for the National Health Insurance Fund.
The February decree says the money in the election budget is approved once the 2026 State Budget Act comes into force.
The sum will come from the spending set aside for this purpose in the 2026 central budget, and from shifting spending and/or transfers within the year.
