Maritsa East Mines produced 10,135,713 tonnes of lignite in the first nine months of 2026, or 106% of its business plan, the company said on its website.
The papers to set up Maritsa Iztok Holding are ready and have been filed for entry in the Commercial Register.
The company says it is meeting all orders from users in the complex at the agreed quality. It says deliveries to customers have risen in recent weeks.
In the last three months of the year, the company expects to produce more than 6m tonnes, about 173% of plan. It says output for the year should reach 16m tonnes, about 124% of the business plan.
At the end of September, the Council of Ministers approved a decree changing the 2026 budget of the Ministry of Energy, BTA reported. The state budget will pay the first cash instalment of €126.6m to raise the capital of Maritsa Iztok Holding.
Work to prepare the projects in the long-term Business Programme 2026–2036 continues. This includes notifying the European Commission about the money needed for the projects and for the future work of the new company.
Maritsa East Mines also takes part in a special working group set up by order of energy minister Iva Petrova. The company has extra technical links to feed coal in unplanned and emergency situations, so that supply is more secure.
Mining is running normally at all three mines. The company says the overburden sections are working efficiently, and the working and non-working slopes and the dump benches are stable.
Preparation for the autumn and winter season is in its final stage.
