The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy will pay for children's corners in public buildings under a new measure in its "Beautiful Bulgaria" programme, the ministry press office said.
The deadline to apply in the 2027 round is 18 January 2027. The full terms are online.
The aim is to give staff and visitors a place to leave their children, the ministry said. The corners will be in state and municipal institutions, hospitals, libraries, museums and other public buildings.
Owners of the sites can apply: municipalities, regional governors, state institutions and inspection bodies. The measure, called "Setting up a children's corner in public service buildings", covers building and repair work, equipment and furnishings in rooms of state or municipal buildings. This includes buildings listed as immovable cultural heritage.
A project can cost from €5,000 to €25,000 including VAT. "Beautiful Bulgaria" pays up to 70%.
It is one of six measures for 2027. The other five cover public spaces and social and education buildings.
"Improving the public environment in towns and villages" is for access to buildings, squares, parks and gardens. "Improving social infrastructure" is for education and health buildings and for upgrading buildings used for day social services. Projects under both measures cost from €60,000 to €300,000 including VAT, and the applicant must provide at least 50% of the funding. The programme pays up to €70,000 including VAT, or up to €90,000 for a project that includes training.
"Improving social services for residential care and shelter" is meant to improve conditions for disadvantaged people. Repairs of immovable cultural heritage are not allowed under it. Projects cost from €60,000 to €300,000 including VAT, and the applicant puts in at least 30%. The programme pays up to €90,000 including VAT, or €110,000 including VAT if the project includes training.
"Providing accessible environment in public buildings" is for people with reduced mobility and people with disabilities. It allows ramps, lifting platforms, lifts or a combination of them to be built. The sixth measure is for vocational high schools that run dual training or teach specialities the state protects. Funding for a project under these two measures ranges from €40,000 to €120,000 including VAT, and the programme pays up to 70%.
In 2026, the programme is running 51 projects in 48 municipalities. At least 333 people are expected to get construction jobs, and at least 120 of them were previously registered as unemployed at labour offices.
In 14 training courses, 177 unemployed people registered at labour offices are taking part. After the training they will have a better chance on the job market, the ministry said.
Among the municipalities with winning projects in 2026 is Hisarya, where the largest kindergarten in the municipality, "Winnie the Pooh" in the town, will be renovated.
