Ivanka Dineva is out as director of the Executive Agency for Medical Supervision for personal reasons, the health ministry told BTA.
Dineva ran the agency from 2023 to 2026. Caretaker health minister Mihail Okoliyski removed her on 27 February this year, and Dr. Atanas Atanasov took over on 17 March. Atanasov was then removed in June, and Dineva took charge again.
The health ministry says the June change was meant to speed up the agency's move to digital systems. It also wanted better oversight and clearer rules on how checks start, get tracked and get closed.
Health minister Katya Ivkova has asked her to step up work with other countries on organ donation and transplants. She also has to keep running the partnership set up in 2025 with leading European transplant centres, which covers lung transplants for Bulgarian patients.
The ministry said it brought her back in June to keep the international contacts already in place running smoothly and to give more Bulgarians access to highly specialised transplant care.
She lost the job in February. Okoliyski said coordination needed to improve and donor cases in Bulgaria needed to be handled better. He also said patients needed to be matched more carefully with suitable recipients for transplants.
