Factory prices in Bulgaria's industry were 17.4% higher in August 2026 than a year earlier, the National Statistical Institute says. That's up from 13.7% in July and close to May's peak of 17.5%.
Mining saw the steepest rise, with output costing 97.3% more than a year ago. Electricity, heat and gas prices rose 13%, while manufacturing prices climbed 10.4%.
Within manufacturing, basic metals jumped the most, up 29.7%. Repair and installation of machinery and equipment rose 11%, and chemicals rose 10.6%. Prices for general and special-purpose machinery fell 2%.
Month on month, the overall index rose 3% in August. Mining again led the way, up 10.2%, followed by electricity, heat and gas at 5.3% and manufacturing at 1.5%.
Within manufacturing, basic metals rose 4.4% in just one month, drinks rose 1.8% and chemicals rose 1.6%. Tobacco products and computer, electronic and optical goods both got cheaper, down 0.4%, while rubber and plastic goods and cars, trailers and semi-trailers each fell 0.3%.
NSI figures for the year so far show prices rose 5.9% in January from December, with annual growth at 11.3%. In February they rose 0.1% on the month and 8.4% on the year. In March prices fell 0.8% but stayed 8.1% above March 2025 levels, then jumped 1.9% in April, pushing annual growth to 15.2%. Prices fell 0.2% in May, fell 0.5% in June with annual growth at 17.1%, then rose 0.4% in July.
