Bulgaria is one of 29 countries whose foreign ministers today condemned Iran's actions and warned it to refrain from hostile acts after the incident at RAF Fairford in the UK.
British prime minister Andy Burnham blamed Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He said the alleged attack plan was very likely coordinated in Iran and almost certainly directed by the IRGC. The incident at Fairford took place on 27 September and caused alarm.
The ministers issued a joint statement, posted by the US State Department and the British foreign ministry. In it, they condemn in the strongest terms violent attacks by Iran and accept the UK's conclusion that Iran was involved in the incident.
The statement is signed by Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany and Greece. Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the US also signed.
The text also points to plots to kill people, arson, sabotage, cyber attacks and other hybrid activity against them and their partners. The ministers say any attempt by Iran to threaten, silence, intimidate, harass, harm or coerce people on their territory, through proxies or in any other way, is unacceptable.
The UK says the incident shows the IRGC is still ready to widen its hostile activity beyond Iran's borders through secret networks and proxies.
The statement follows a recent wave of attacks in Europe on Jewish communities, Iranian journalists and American interests. The group "Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia" claimed responsibility for them.
