A 68-year-old driver died when his car crashed head-on into a lorry on the Haskovo–Plovdiv road near the village of Gorski Izvor, in Dimitrovgrad municipality. Traffic police at the Haskovo regional police directorate (ODMVR) told BTA.
The crash happened at about 3pm today. Early information is that the car crossed into the oncoming lane on a straight stretch and hit the lorry.
Police found no brake marks at the first inspection. An autopsy will show whether a medical problem also made the car change course.
The E-80 road is being repaired on this stretch, and traffic has been diverted through the village of Kasnakovo because of the crash.
On 27 September, a taxi hit a lorry on the same road, near the village of Sadovo. The taxi driver died at the scene.
