Agriculture minister Plamen Abrovski says Bulgaria has no officially registered crisis in the wine and vineyard sector. He said there has been no big drop in prices, nor any unusual build-up of stocks in wineries. He was answering a question from GERB-SDS MP Tsveta Karayancheva at a meeting of parliament's agriculture, food and forestry committee.
The minister asked wine and vineyard growers to bring hard data if they really do have a problem, saying statistics are not always accurate. "When we work with exact figures, we can defend many different kinds of aid before the European Commission," Abrovski said.
He called this year's harvest "excellent" and said he expects "an even better Bulgarian wine" as a result. He added that wine and vineyard growers are already covered by Bulgaria's approved budget under the emergency crisis measure, worth 11 million euros. That sum will be topped up with 23 million euros from national funds.
Abrovski said all the data will be reviewed in January, and the aid is expected to be paid out by 28 February 2027.
