President Iliana Iotova will hand the national flag to the 35th Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition, her press office said. The ceremony starts at 11:00 in the Coat of Arms Hall, where expedition leader Prof Hristo Pimpirev will receive the flag.
The coming expedition includes science, social and art projects. Team members presented them at a training camp in the town of Aheloy.
The press office called the previous expedition, the 34th in the 2025-2026 season, one of the most successful in the history of Bulgaria's presence on the Frozen Continent. It made possible work on 35 Bulgarian and international science projects at the St Kliment Ohridski base on Livingston Island.
A new laboratory block, opened during the 34th expedition, is now in use at the base.
