Bulgaria is ready to encourage investment with high added value and successful business models, Prime Minister Rumen Radev told a US business delegation, the government press office said.
The US embassy organised the meeting, which was also attended by innovation and digital transformation minister Ivan Vasilev. The companies in the delegation work in security, high technology, defence, energy and other fields.
Radev said Bulgaria has real capacity to take an active part in building the industries of the future. He said it wants to become an important part of high-tech production chains. Bulgarian companies in electronics, high technology, space and defence are already developing and looking for international partners.
Building and expanding transport, logistics, energy and digital links creates room for successful partnerships, the prime minister said. He also stressed the political stability that the current government provides. He said the cabinet wants to develop and deepen the strategic partnership with the US in a range of areas.
On 7 October the government approved Bulgaria joining an international declaration on partnership in artificial intelligence. The US launched the initiative, and 54 countries have joined so far. Its aims are to encourage innovation in artificial intelligence and to strengthen the security and stability of shared technology supply chains.
Bulgaria is home to the first Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technologies in the region. It draws Bulgarian and international scientists and has already made major advances in artificial intelligence.
