Lukoil's oil will last until mid-December and there is no reason to panic, Prime Minister Rumen Radev told a hearing in parliament.
This article follows our earlier report on the drone attacks on ships in the Black Sea on 6 and 13 October.
The hearing was called over those attacks on merchant ships and over reports that Starlink satellite antennas were deliberately set on fire. MPs wanted to know what has been done, how the risk is assessed and what steps are planned.
The storage depot holds 140,000 tonnes of oil, Radev said. Three tankers already in Bulgarian territorial waters will unload another 420,000 tonnes.
The prime minister said prices and insurance for these three tankers have been agreed and will not change. The cost of transport and deliveries will not change either. On insurance for later deliveries, Radev said he doubts the government, with its limited powers, can influence the terms next year.
Radev accused GERB leader Boyko Borisov of spreading panic. He said Borisov is touring the country and claiming there will be no diesel because exports are allowed. The prime minister said that if fuel problems do come, they will come from this panic. "There is diesel and there will be diesel," he said.
