Prime minister Rumen Radev said Bulgarian MEPs are using the European Parliament to run a national election campaign. He spoke to reporters at the Progressive Bulgaria headquarters after a meeting of the party's executive council.
Radev said the MEPs have limited political legitimacy in Bulgaria. He called their campaign doomed and unworthy.
He also said the MEPs manipulate the political families they belong to, and that those families are far from Bulgaria.
Earlier the same day, the European Parliament passed a resolution against Russian strikes on ships in the Black Sea. It won 432 votes, with 52 against and 88 abstentions.
The text calls on the EU to give Bulgaria and Romania funding to improve security in the region.
