Topolovgrad museum could keep its fees and souvenir money in its own account

29.10.2026

Topolovgrad councillors are considering new rules for the town's History Museum today. If they approve them, the museum's income will no longer go through the council's account.

Fees and souvenir income at the Topolovgrad municipal history museum could go straight into the museum's own account, not the municipality's. A new set of rules on how the museum is organised and run would allow this. Councillors are looking at it at today's meeting. The draft and the report on it are on the municipality's website.

Museum director Veselin Kalvachev told BTA the change would give the museum more money for running costs and that the cultural and historical heritage would be managed better. The report says the Ministry of Culture has signed off on the draft.

The council has 10 items on its agenda. Councillors must decide whether to let livestock farmers use common pastures, grazing land and meadows from the municipal land fund. Also proposed is the repeal of some provisions of the ordinance on public order, cleanliness, road safety, and fire and emergency safety in Topolovgrad municipality.

Councillors will also vote on an analysis of the support that children and pupils in the municipality need for personal development in 2026, and on actions to dispose of municipal property.

If councillors approve the new rules, they will replace those in force since May 2019.
