Customs officers seized a total of 66,702 ml of e-cigarette liquid during several checks in September, the Customs Agency said. The seizures were made by the customs intelligence and investigation unit at Sofia Customs.
Some of the liquid had no mandatory Bulgarian excise stamp, while other batches were being transported without the required papers.
The biggest quantity came from a parcel addressed to a company in Bulgaria. It contained e-cigarettes of different capacities and refill cartridges for them, all without an excise stamp.
The agency also reported a large quantity of liquid found by Sofia Customs officers in early August.
From January to September, officers seized a total of 422,460 ml in breach of excise rules. About half of that was seized in June.
