The decision is based on a report under Article 163 of the Law on Defence and the Armed Forces of Bulgaria. Four weeks ago, on 30 September, it became clear that the admiral had filed it with three months' notice. The press centre of the Defence Ministry confirmed this to BTA when asked.

Born on 16 August 1961, Efimov has headed the military since 30 March 2020.

According to the Defence Ministry website, he holds all the honours due to his rank, including the badge "For Loyal Service Under the Colours" and the "St George" badge of honour.
