No reports or evidence of vote buying have emerged ahead of the October 25 presidential election, interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev told reporters.
"At this point there aren't many reports, and there's no evidence of vote buying, but that doesn't lower our guard or the steps we're taking," he said.
Demerdzhiev spoke at the opening of a new training center for firefighters and rescue workers near the village of Pokrovnik, in the Blagoevgrad region.
Earlier that day, heads of the prosecution service, the Central Election Commission, the interior ministry and the national security agency DANS met to agree how they'll work together to keep the election legal and transparent, the minister said. The prosecution service said only, through its press office, that the meeting covered stopping and uncovering breaches of election law and crimes, and protecting citizens' political rights.
They also discussed how crime is shifting online. "A good deal of crime is moving to the internet, including crime tied to elections," Demerdzhiev said.
He said efforts are focused on this, and that the authorities are also watching for online activity that crosses the line of the law.
