Democratic Bulgaria will put forward a bill in parliament for a temporary inquiry committee to look into attacks by foreign intelligence services on Bulgaria. Ivaylo Mirchev — a Democratic Bulgaria MP and co-chair of Yes, Bulgaria — announced the plan to reporters in the corridors of parliament.
"Over the past 10 to 15 years, Bulgaria has faced various kinds of attacks from foreign intelligence services, from foreign states," Mirchev said. "There were blasts at weapons factories, there were attempts to poison Bulgarian arms dealers." He said prosecutors have repeatedly stalled these cases and kept them out of public view.
"Now we're putting forward a request in parliament to set up a temporary committee to investigate them," the Democratic Bulgaria MP added.
Mirchev says the plan already has the backing it needs — people from three parties have signed the request: Democratic Bulgaria, We Continue the Change, and GERB-SDS.
