GERB leader Boyko Borisov has met journalist Anne Applebaum, he said in a Facebook post. He said Bulgaria has a clear place in the European and Euro-Atlantic family.
He did not say when or where they met. Applebaum is a journalist and political analyst who has won a Pulitzer Prize. Borisov called her one of the most respected journalists and analysts of current political affairs.
"I am glad I had the chance to meet Anne Applebaum," he wrote.
Borisov said that in a time of wars, geopolitical rivalry and growing threats to democracy, Europe must be strong, united and resolute. "Democracy, freedom and security cannot be taken for granted," he wrote, adding that they need leadership, responsibility and clear positions.
Last week Borisov met David Harris, who led the American Jewish Committee from 1990 to 2022.
