GERB leader Boyko Borisov said in Petrich that his party backed a declaration from Democratic Bulgaria (DB) at the Consultative Council on National Security, and pushed hardest for it to name the aggressor. The council did not adopt the declaration.

Borisov was in Petrich to meet party members. He called on President Iliana Yotova to declassify part of the transcript of yesterday's meeting.

"Democratic Bulgaria tabled a declaration and asked for a vote, and I was the first to back it," Borisov told reporters. He said the DPS, DB and We Continue the Change (PP) backed it after him.

Borisov said he, Stanislav Anastasov of the DPS, Ivaylo Mirchev of DB and Nikolay Denkov of PP all insisted that Russia be named as the aggressor in Ukraine. He said he does not see the two sides in the war as equal, because one was attacked.

"The sharpest speech was mine," Borisov said. He said what the party leaders told the media after the meeting has nothing to do with what was said inside.

Borisov said he did not speak to the media himself. At the meeting, he said, he had warned that Kostadin Kostadinov of Vazrazhdane would go out to reporters first, and that everyone else would then retell only the part that suits their election campaign. Borisov said that is what happened.
